Tamil Nadu Anticipates Rise in Maximum Temperatures by Two Degrees

Chennai, March 12: The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecasted a gradual increase in maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu in the coming days. By March 15, temperatures are expected to rise by approximately two degrees Celsius.

Light rain may occur in some southern regions of Tamil Nadu due to an atmospheric system developing over the Bay of Bengal. According to the weather department in Chennai, a low-level atmospheric circulation is currently present in the southwest Bay of Bengal. This system could impact the weather in the southern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, bringing scattered light rain to certain areas.

Officials have indicated that light rain is likely in one or two locations in the southern coastal districts on Thursday. This weather system is expected to continue influencing the region for the next few days.

By March 16, very light rain is anticipated in various parts of the southern coastal districts, with the possibility of moderate rain in some areas on March 17. However, rainfall may occur in certain coastal regions. The overall weather pattern in Tamil Nadu is expected to remain warm.

The weather department stated that daytime temperatures across the state could gradually increase by about 2 degrees Celsius over the next few days. This temperature rise is considered normal for the pre-summer period when heat conditions begin to intensify in South India.

On Thursday, the sky in Chennai is expected to be partly cloudy. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre’s forecast, the maximum temperature in the city could reach around 35 degrees Celsius.

Weather department officials noted that due to the proximity to the Bay of Bengal, humidity levels in the air may remain relatively high, causing daytime temperatures to feel warmer than the actual readings.

Meteorologists have advised local residents to exercise caution as temperatures rise across the state. They should stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight during the afternoon.

With the combination of rising temperatures and occasional rain along the southern coast, Tamil Nadu may experience hot and slightly unstable weather conditions in the coming days. Weather officials will monitor the development of the atmospheric system in the Bay of Bengal and will issue updates if the system strengthens or forecasts change.
