Kabul, May 12: The Taliban government in Kabul dismissed Pakistan’s allegations on Tuesday, which claimed that the recent attack on a police station in Bannu was orchestrated from Afghanistan. The Taliban labeled these accusations as baseless.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid urged Pakistan to resolve issues through mutual understanding, respect, and genuine cooperation. He reiterated that Afghanistan’s territory would not be allowed to be used for any activities that could jeopardize regional security and stability.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, he stated, “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan completely rejects the recent statements from Pakistani officials claiming that the attack on the Bannu police center was planned in Afghanistan. We refute these allegations. We believe that solutions to problems can only be achieved through dialogue, respect, and cooperation.”
He further emphasized, “Instead of threats, accusations, and emotional statements, we clarify once again that Afghanistan’s land will not be used against any country, nor will anyone be allowed to conduct actions that threaten regional security and stability.”
This statement came after Pakistan’s Foreign Office summoned Afghanistan’s Charge d’Affaires on Monday to deliver a ‘strong protest letter’. This protest was in response to the suicide bombing at the Fateh Khel police station in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on May 9, 2026, which resulted in the deaths of 15 police officers.
The Pakistani Foreign Office stated on the social media platform ‘X’, “The Charge d’Affaires of Afghanistan was summoned to the Foreign Ministry today and presented with a strong protest letter regarding this cowardly vehicle bomb (IED) attack on the Fateh Khel police station. This attack was carried out by terrorists known as ‘Fitna al-Khawarij’.”
The ministry also indicated that investigations and technical intelligence suggest that the attack was planned by terrorists residing in Afghanistan.
Pakistan expressed ongoing concerns about the use of Afghan territory for attacks within Pakistan.
According to reports from the daily newspaper ‘The Express Tribune’, a terrorist organization named ‘Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan’ has claimed responsibility for the attack, which is believed to be linked to ‘Fitna al-Khawarij’.
Information indicates that on Saturday and Sunday nights, terrorists rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the Fateh Khel police station, causing the entire structure to be destroyed in a massive explosion.
Police reported that following the blast, the attackers opened fire from multiple directions, leading to hours of heavy gunfire and additional explosions, creating widespread panic in the area.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan stated that there were a total of 18 police personnel stationed at the post at the time of the attack.
