Suspected Financial Dispute Behind Double Murder of Brothers in Tripura
Two brothers were murdered in Tripura, with police suspecting a financial dispute related to drugs or property.
Dharmanagar, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : In a tragic incident in Dharmanagar, Tripura, two brothers have been found dead, and another person is injured. Dharmanagar, the second-largest commercial hub in the state after Agartala, is now the focus of a police investigation.
Authorities suspect that the killings may be linked to a financial dispute, possibly involving drugs or property transactions. Investigators are delving into the circumstances surrounding the incident to uncover the motive behind the murders and identify all individuals involved.
The bodies of Subodip Roy Chaudhary, 28, and Joydeep Roy Chaudhary, 22, were discovered late Monday night in the Baruakandi area of Dharmanagar police station jurisdiction during the Durga Puja festival.
Police officials from North Tripura have stated that they are examining potential economic disputes, drug-related matters, and property dealings that may have led to this double homicide.
According to a complaint filed by the victims’ father, Samiran Roy Chaudhary, his sons intervened in a local dispute. The complaint alleges that the primary suspect, Bijan Das, 32, had threatened to kill both brothers.
Samiran Roy Chaudhary also reported that his sons received threatening phone calls, after which he learned of their tragic fate in Baruakandi.
He suspects that Bijan Das and others may be involved in the murders.
The police have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 2023 and have commenced an investigation. Bijan Das, who was injured in the incident, is currently receiving treatment in the hospital, where he is being interrogated regarding the case. Given the seriousness of the situation, police have also implemented additional security measures at the hospital.
Investigators are looking into the threats received, the confrontational circumstances, and any financial transactions that might have triggered this violence. The true motive behind the murders and the roles of other individuals involved remain to be determined.
