Strengthening Ties: Sri Lankan Delegation Welcomed in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar, February 10: The General Secretary of Sri Lanka’s ruling party, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), Tilvin Silva, and his delegation were warmly welcomed in Gandhinagar. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed confidence that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the relationship between India and Sri Lanka has strengthened. He emphasized that this meeting would benefit the long-standing historical and cultural ties between the two nations.

The Chief Minister advocated for mutual cooperation between the state government and Sri Lanka, allowing the island nation to leverage various sectoral policies for its advantage. Discussions also included facilitating more Gujarati citizens to visit Sri Lanka.

Tilvin Silva expressed his delight at visiting Gujarat, the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for the first time. He noted his admiration for Gujarat’s progress and thanked the central and state governments for providing sacred symbols of Lord Buddha for an exhibition in Colombo. Silva acknowledged India’s consistent readiness to assist Sri Lanka during challenging times, including in infrastructure development.

He praised the Gujarat-Sri Lanka partnership in the industrial sector and expressed a keen interest in learning about Gujarat’s expertise, knowledge sharing, and information in various sectors, including the cooperative sector, during his visit to Amul.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel invited Sri Lanka to participate as a partner country in the upcoming Vibrant Summit 2027. He provided details on the successful organization of VGRCC, aimed at showcasing the state’s regional industrial capabilities to the world under the Prime Minister’s guidance.

Accompanying the Chief Minister during this courtesy call were Chief Secretary M.K. Das, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department Mamta Verma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjeev Kumar, Industries Commissioner P. Swaroop, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Vikrant Pandey, Secretary Ajay Kumar, and other senior officials.
