New Delhi, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : The National Homoeopathy Mental Health Research Institute (NHRI-MH) held its sixth meeting of the Institutional Finance Committee (IFC) on September 14, under the leadership of Alarmel Mangai D., Joint Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH.
During the meeting, Alarmel Mangai D. inaugurated a skills laboratory for postgraduate students and toured the outpatient and inpatient facilities. She engaged with students, staff, and patients, assessing the institute’s educational, research, and patient care activities.
The IFC reviewed critical areas related to the institute’s financial, educational, research, infrastructure, and administrative development. Progress on decisions made in the previous meeting was also evaluated, along with proposals concerning institutional infrastructure, financial management, human resource needs, educational facilities, and research capabilities.
A consensus emerged on prioritizing the strengthening of the research ecosystem at NHRI-MH. The focus will be on expanding research programs, upgrading laboratory infrastructure, and developing advanced experimental and mechanical research facilities for neurological and psychiatric disorders.
The committee also reviewed proposals to bolster institutional capacity in line with NHRI-MH’s clinical, educational, and research requirements. They encouraged enhanced collaboration with prestigious national and state-level institutions through appropriate Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to promote educational exchange, research partnerships, and capacity building. Additionally, the committee recommended hosting a national conference on World Mental Health Day.
Improving the quality of laboratory services was another significant discussion point. The committee considered measures to enhance quality assurance and steps toward obtaining accreditation for laboratory facilities. Discussions also included energy efficiency, safety systems, maintenance, and other essential infrastructure needs.
Emphasizing financial prudence, quality, and better resource utilization, the committee stressed the importance of effective coordination and continuous monitoring to ensure timely completion of approved initiatives.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Preetha Kizhakkuthil, Advisor (Homoeopathy) from the Ministry of AYUSH, and Dr. Subhash Kaushik, Director General of CCRH, New Delhi. Other attendees included Dr. Srinivas Rao Chinta, Joint Advisor (Homoeopathy), representatives from the Integrated Finance Division, and senior officials from the Ministry of AYUSH, who participated virtually.
The meeting concluded with a focus on enhancing NHRI-MH’s research, educational, and clinical capabilities through improved infrastructure, quality laboratory services, institutional collaboration, and timely implementation of approved initiatives.
