
Bhopal, March 27: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for several districts in Madhya Pradesh, including Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, Singrauli, Sidhi, Rewa, Satna, Shahdol, Umaria, Dindori, Katni, Jabalpur, Panna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, and Niwari. Residents can expect scattered rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in these areas.
Wind speeds are anticipated to reach 30-40 km/h. However, the rest of the state is likely to remain dry.
IMD officials in Bhopal have advised residents to stay indoors during storms, avoid seeking shelter under trees, and unplug electrical devices to reduce the risk of lightning strikes. Farmers are urged to postpone irrigation, fertilization, and pesticide spraying to protect crops and livestock from sudden weather changes.
In the past 24 hours, the IMD reported dry weather across Madhya Pradesh, while a heatwave was noted in Narmadapuram.
Temperatures in several divisions, including Bhopal, Ujjain, Gwalior, Chambal, and Jabalpur, have been above normal, with maximum temperatures ranging from 1.7 to 2.7 degrees Celsius higher than average. The highest temperature recorded was 41.6 degrees Celsius in Narmadapuram, while the lowest was 14.2 degrees Celsius in Pachmarhi (Narmadapuram district).
Other hot areas included Ratlam (39.6 degrees Celsius), Vidisha (39.1 degrees Celsius), and Berasia in Bhopal (39.0 degrees Celsius). In contrast, cooler temperatures were observed in hilly regions like Pachmarhi and Amarkantak, where maximum temperatures hovered around 32.4 and 32.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Significant increases in minimum temperatures were also noted, particularly in the Bhopal and Gwalior divisions, rising by 2.3 to 3.0 degrees Celsius. Cities like Kannod (24.9 degrees Celsius) and Prithvipur (23.5 degrees Celsius) recorded the highest nighttime temperatures, while Pachmarhi and Karondi (Katni) remained cooler.
The weather forecast for Bhopal on March 28 indicates mostly clear skies, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to be around 38 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius, respectively. Wind speeds are predicted to be between 12-14 km/h.
