Stabbing and Robbery Incident in Mangolpuri Leaves Grandfather and Grandson Injured

New Delhi, May 8: A stabbing and robbery incident in Mangolpuri, Delhi, on Thursday night has created an atmosphere of fear in the neighborhood. In this outer Delhi locality, assailants targeted a grocery store and executed the robbery at knife-point. Both a grandfather and his grandson, who were present at the store, sustained injuries during the attack.

According to reports, more than five assailants arrived on two-wheelers and immediately launched their attack. The suddenness of the assault caused panic among those inside the store. The robbers brandished knives, stole cash from the shop, and fled the scene. In their haste to escape, they left one of their scooters behind, which the police now consider a crucial lead in their investigation.

Upon receiving news of the incident, police quickly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. Initial investigations suggest that the robbery was premeditated. Authorities are currently reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras in an effort to identify the fleeing suspects.

Meanwhile, the East District Police have arrested a separate suspect allegedly preparing to commit theft and snatching with a knife. According to Delhi Police, officers from the Preet Vihar station apprehended a suspicious young man during their patrol.

While patrolling near PSK Road in the Kala Park area, the police noticed a young man attempting to flee upon seeing them. Acting on their suspicions, they pursued and apprehended him. A search revealed an illegal folding knife in his possession.

The arrested individual has been identified as 26-year-old Puran, a resident of the Chitra Vihar slum area. During questioning, he admitted to being a drug addict and committing theft and snatching to fund his habits. Police report that he has been involved in several criminal cases in the past.

Authorities state that the timely arrest of this suspect prevented a potential crime. A case has been registered against him under the Arms Act, and further investigations are ongoing.
