
Colombo, August 8: A warm-up match between India and Sri Lanka Cricket XI is currently taking place at the Nondescripts Cricket Club ground. Sri Lanka Cricket XI has declared their first innings at 363 runs after losing 8 wickets.
On the second day of the warm-up match, the Sri Lankan team opted not to bat again and decided to declare their innings at the first day’s score of 363/8. The first day showcased a dominant performance from the Sri Lankan team. Nishan Madushka and Ravindu Rasanta provided a strong start, forming a partnership of 110 runs for the first wicket. Nishan scored 66 runs off 65 balls, hitting 11 fours and a six. Meanwhile, Ravindu contributed 71 runs from 143 balls, including 6 fours and a six.
Pasindu Sooriyabandara added 35 runs, while Pawan Ratnayake failed to capitalize on a good start, getting out for 39 runs off 47 balls, dismissed by Gurnoor Barar. Ahan Vikramasinghe scored 31 runs, and captain Sonal Dinuja played a notable innings, scoring 52 runs off 71 balls. Ramesh Mendis was out for 32 runs, while Keshara Nuwanta and Dilum Sudhira remained not out at 9 and 1 run, respectively.
However, Indian fast bowlers struggled on the first day of the warm-up match. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna were unable to take any wickets. Gurnoor Barar managed to claim just one wicket. Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets for 76 runs, while Manav Suthar also took 2 wickets, conceding 33 runs. Ravindra Jadeja picked up 2 wickets for 64 runs. The Indian team played without their regular captain Shubman Gill, who missed the match due to a finger injury. KL Rahul took over the captaincy in Gill’s absence.
