South Delhi Superstars Dominate West Delhi Lions with Unbeaten 171-Run Partnership

New Delhi, August 17: The South Delhi Superstars triumphed over the West Delhi Lions by 10 wickets in the 31st match of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, held at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday. The opening pair played a crucial role in this commanding victory.

With this win, the South Delhi Superstars have secured 4 victories out of 8 matches, climbing to fourth place in the points table. Conversely, the West Delhi Lions, having lost 4 out of 8 matches, sit in sixth place.

Batting first after losing the toss, the West Delhi Lions were bowled out for 169 runs in just 19.5 overs. They lost their first wicket early, at a score of 13, when Ankit Kumar was dismissed for 11 runs. Following this, Krish Yadav and Nitish Rana formed a solid partnership, scoring 83 runs off 51 balls for the second wicket, taking the team to a total of 96.

Krish scored 25 runs off 26 balls, hitting 2 fours, before returning to the pavilion. Nitish Rana, however, shone with a remarkable 60 runs off 33 balls, including 6 sixes and 4 fours. Captain Ayush Doseja contributed 27 runs to the total. Only 5 batsmen managed to reach double figures. Anshuman Hooda was the standout bowler for the Superstars, claiming 4 wickets, while Ankit Dabas and Vivek Tiwari took 2 wickets each.

In response, the South Delhi Superstars chased down the target without losing a wicket, finishing the match in just 15.2 overs. Opening batsmen Sanat Sangwan and Anmol Sharma put on an unbroken partnership of 171 runs, facing 92 balls.

Sanat remained unbeaten with a stellar 111 runs off 54 balls, featuring 10 sixes and 6 fours. Anmol Sharma supported him well, scoring 55 runs off 38 balls, including 1 six and 6 fours.

In the earlier match on Monday, the East Delhi Riders secured their first win by defeating the New Delhi Tigers by 36 runs. The Riders now hold 1 victory out of 7 matches, placing them seventh, while the Tigers have lost 7 out of 8 matches, landing them at the bottom of the table in eighth place.
