Sonia Gandhis Hearing on Voter List Case Postponed to March 30

New Delhi, March 13: The hearing in a significant case involving Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has been postponed at the Rouse Avenue Court in New Delhi. She is accused of having her name included in the voter list without obtaining citizenship. The next hearing is now scheduled for March 30.

Advocate Vikas Tripathi filed a revision petition in this matter. The request to postpone the hearing was made by the petitioner, leading to the delay.

During the previous hearing, Sonia Gandhi submitted a response, labeling the petition as baseless, politically motivated, and an abuse of legal process. It was argued that the case was raised solely for political purposes and lacked solid evidence.

The petition claims that Sonia Gandhi acquired Indian citizenship on April 30, 1983, while her name appeared in the 1980 voter list of New Delhi. The petitioner questioned how her name was included in the voter list in 1980 and whether any fraudulent documents were used. Additionally, it inquired why her name was removed from the voter list in 1982 and on what basis her name was reinstated in 1983 after obtaining citizenship.

The petition against Sonia Gandhi alleged violations of procedural rules. The petitioner requested the court to investigate the matter and reveal the true facts. However, the magistrate’s court had dismissed the petition against Sonia Gandhi in September, prompting the petitioner to file a revision petition against that decision.

Following the postponement of the hearing, the next session is set for March 30, where all parties will have the opportunity to present their arguments.
