Sona Mohapatra Pays Tribute to Asha Bhosles Indomitable Spirit

Mumbai, April 15: Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle has passed away at the age of 92. She breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. On Wednesday, renowned singer Sona Mohapatra expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards Bhosle through a post on social media.

Sona shared a note on her Instagram, questioning why the sorrow of Asha Ji’s passing felt so profound and personal. She wrote, “Is crying on and off on stage just an act? Am I becoming a drama queen, considering I didn’t even know Asha Bhosle personally?”

She continued, “Then I realized in the morning that this isn’t grief but gratitude. A deep, heartfelt gratitude for the high standards Asha Ji set. For breaking societal bonds, for her relentless pursuit of excellence, and for her fearless enthusiasm for life.”

Sona noted that Asha Bhosle made every note her own, styled every saree uniquely, and made every smile special. She stated, “She gave voice to desires, playfulness, and charm. During a time when such expressions were deemed forbidden for women, she not only sang but also showcased what a woman could achieve.”

Concluding her thoughts, Sona expressed, “It’s an experience to witness such greatness. To learn from it and to realize that a part of my own voice exists because she first showed courage. This gratitude will always remain.”

Sona also mentioned that Asha Ji’s image is truly special and will be remembered for a long time.
