
New Delhi, 8 December. The Election Commission on Monday released an update on the second phase of the Special Summary Revision (SIR), showing rapid progress in voter list revision across 12 states and union territories.
The daily bulletin issued by the commission stated that the enumeration phase, which began on 4 November, will continue until 11 December. During this period, significant progress has been made in the distribution and digitization of voter-specific enumeration forms in various states.
According to the report, several smaller states and union territories have performed excellently. Lakshadweep, with a total of 57,813 registered voters, has already completed 100 percent form distribution and digitization. Similarly, Goa and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have nearly achieved their targets.
Puducherry, where there are 1.021 million voters, has distributed 99.98 percent of forms and digitized 99.90 percent of them.
Madhya Pradesh, with over 57.4 million voters, has almost completed 100 percent form distribution and 99.97 percent digitization. Gujarat has recorded 99.99 percent distribution and 99.68 percent digitization.
Uttar Pradesh, the country’s largest state with over 154.4 million voters, has distributed 99.95 percent of forms, while digitization has reached 96.91 percent. Kerala’s digitization process stands at 97.42 percent.
The report further stated that more than 509 million voters nationwide have participated. A total of 99.95 percent of enumeration forms have been distributed, and 5,033,01,912 forms, or 98.69 percent, have been digitized.
The digitization also includes entries where voters were found absent, shifted, deceased, or duplicate.
