Shocking Murder of TMC Worker in West Bengal Ahead of Elections

Kolkata, March 19: A shocking murder has emerged from the Minakhan area of North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, following the announcement of assembly election dates. The body of a local Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker was discovered on Thursday morning, causing widespread panic in the region.

The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Moshiur Kazi, a resident of Ganganiya village in the Haroa assembly constituency. Locals claim that Kazi was an active TMC worker in the area. The incident occurred in the Jhujurgacha village under the Sonapukur-Shankarpur gram panchayat of the Minakhan assembly constituency.

Villagers alerted the police after spotting the body by the roadside. The victim had multiple stab wounds and his face was severely disfigured. Upon receiving the report, police from the Haroa station arrived at the scene and began their investigation. This murder has sent shockwaves throughout the locality, especially just before the elections.

The victim’s brother stated, “We received the news in the morning. When we saw the body, we recognized it as my brother’s. He was brutally murdered. This is a case of old political rivalry. We demand justice.”

A senior officer from the Basirhat police district mentioned that the victim’s face was so badly mutilated that it was initially unrecognizable. It took locals some time to identify him. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law.

Authorities are investigating whether the murder was politically motivated or stemmed from personal enmity. Reports indicate that the victim had left home on Wednesday night, stating he was going out for work, but did not return. His family arrived at the scene after hearing about the body and confirmed his identity.
