
New Delhi, March 27: India’s leading airline, Indigo, has announced the launch of new direct flights between Delhi and Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. This service will commence on March 29, with six flights operating weekly on this route.
According to the airline, Airbus A320 aircraft will be utilized for these flights, ensuring a comfortable and convenient travel experience for passengers. This new connectivity is expected to enhance trade, tourism, and cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka.
India and Sri Lanka have historically maintained strong cultural and economic relationships. This new service will facilitate easier movement of people between the two nations and boost economic activities.
Indigo already operates over 55 weekly flights to Colombo from five Indian cities: Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and now Delhi. Additionally, the airline runs ten weekly flights from Chennai and Tiruchirappalli to Jaffna, further solidifying its presence in Sri Lanka.
Passengers can plan their journeys and book tickets through Indigo’s official website, mobile app, or authorized travel partners. They can also pre-order meals, including beverages.
Moreover, travelers can choose options like ‘Upfront’ and ‘Flexi,’ which offer better seating, complimentary snacks, and easy cancellation features.
The flight schedule has also been released. The flight from Delhi to Colombo (6E 1169) will depart at 6:40 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, arriving in Colombo at 10:20 PM. Conversely, the return flight from Colombo to Delhi (6E 1170) will leave on the same days at 11:20 PM, landing in Delhi at 2:55 AM the following day.
