Ranchi, May 18: A brutal double murder of two teenagers has sent shockwaves through the Khunti district of Jharkhand. The incident occurred in the Model Village of Jivri, where assailants attacked the victims with sharp weapons and disposed of their bodies at the base of the Marangburu hill.
On Monday, local villagers alerted the police, leading to the recovery of the bodies. The deceased have been identified as 16-year-old Bisu Pahan and 17-year-old Sumi Munda. Reports indicate that a Chhau dance event was held in the Soyko area on Sunday night, which Bisu and Sumi attended. Around 1 AM, Bisu reportedly got into an altercation with some youths.
As the dispute escalated, the attackers allegedly seized both teenagers and took them to a nearby field, where they were fatally assaulted. Following the murder, the perpetrators attempted to destroy evidence by discarding the bodies at the hill’s base. Local residents discovered the remains on Monday and promptly notified the authorities.
The Soyko police arrived at the scene and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. After the autopsy, the bodies were returned to their families. Binshay Munda, the village head of Jivri, suggested that the incident might be linked to a romantic relationship. Khunti’s Superintendent of Police, Rishabh Garg, confirmed that both minors had attended the dance event and were murdered afterward. The police are investigating all angles and have formed a special investigation team to identify and apprehend the suspects.
