Newly Elected Independent MLCs Join BJP Meeting in Patna

Newly elected independent MLCs Rahul Raj and Banshidhar Brijwasi attended a BJP meeting, discussing teachers issues and future cooperation.

Patna, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : Recently elected independent Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) Rahul Raj and Banshidhar Brijwasi participated in a BJP meeting held at the party office in Patna. The gathering took place on Saturday, where BJP state president Sanjay Sarawagi warmly welcomed the new members, presenting them with the party’s insignia. Chief Minister Samrat Chowdhary was also present at the event.

Rahul Raj, who won from the Saran teachers’ constituency, spoke to the media, emphasizing that he defeated a candidate from the Communist Party, who had switched to Janata Dal (United) just weeks before the election. Raj noted that this last-minute change made it difficult for party workers to accept him.

He expressed his willingness to support any BJP-JD(U) candidate in future elections, citing his respect for party decisions during the 2020 and 2025 assembly elections, when he chose not to run. “I have always been part of this family and will continue to be,” he stated. Raj mentioned that he had met with the Chief Minister regarding teachers’ demands, which were acknowledged as legitimate, and he assured that they would be addressed systematically.

Raj highlighted that the party has committed to aligning teachers’ salaries with the seventh pay commission. He plans to engage with the education minister to resolve outstanding issues for teachers. Following discussions with teachers, he had previously met with Chief Minister Chowdhary, who assured him of positive action regarding their concerns.

Banshidhar Brijwasi, elected from the Tirhut graduate constituency, reiterated that his election was focused on teachers’ issues rather than political maneuvering. He emphasized the importance of collaborating with the government to ensure teachers’ welfare, even as an independent member. Brijwasi confirmed that the Chief Minister has promised to convene a meeting with officials to address teachers’ problems.

He clarified that advocating for teachers’ rights is intrinsic to his role, and he intends to persist in raising these issues. The resolution of teachers’ challenges remains his primary objective, and he is committed to ensuring the government follows through on its assurances.
