Pranavi Urs Struggles at Wistron Ladies Open, Slips to Joint 23rd Place

Pranavi Urs faced challenges at the Wistron Ladies Open, scoring 73 and dropping to joint 23rd place amid tough conditions.

Taoyuan, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : Pranavi Urs encountered difficulties during the third round of the Wistron Ladies Open at the Sunrise Golf and Country Club in Taoyuan, Taiwan, on October 31. After a string of impressive performances, she scored 1 over par with a 73, causing her to fall to a joint 23rd position.

Having recently placed in the top four at the Women’s Indian Open, Pranavi arrived in Taiwan in strong form. She had previously recorded scores of 70 and 68 in the first two rounds, putting her in contention with a total of 6 under par. However, her third-round struggles saw her total drop to 5 under par at 211. She shares this score with Thailand’s Pornanong Phatlum, who also shot a 73 after rounds of 71 and 67.

Leading the tournament is local player Ching Huang, who delivered the day’s best round with a remarkable 7 under par, scoring 65. This performance gave her a one-shot lead heading into the final round on Sunday. Huang, who had previously won on the Taiwan Ladies Professional Golf Association (TLPGA) tour this year, now sits at 14 under par with rounds of 70, 67, and 65.

The challenging winds proved difficult for Pranavi, who struggled to find her rhythm. She managed to make par on the first eight holes before earning her first birdie on the ninth. However, back-to-back bogeys on the 10th and 11th holes set her back further, and she lost additional shots on the 15th and 17th holes.

Despite the setbacks, Pranavi salvaged her round with birdies on the 16th and 18th holes. To improve her standing, she will need an excellent performance in the final round. Throughout the round, her ball-striking remained steady, hitting nearly all her tee shots on the fairway and reaching 13 greens in regulation.

Huang started her birdie streak on the fifth hole, scoring four consecutive birdies before dropping a shot on the ninth. She then strengthened her lead with solid performances on the 10th, 12th, 16th, and 18th holes.

South Africa’s Cassandra Alexander, leading the Ladies European Tour (LET) Order of Merit, is currently in second place with a total score of 13 under par after a round of four under 68. The three-time LET champion made eight birdies but also dropped four shots during her round. Alexander has already claimed two victories this season and is eager to add another title.

England’s Hannah Screen is in third place with a total score of 12 under par after a two under 70 round. Despite a double bogey on the first hole, she rebounded strongly, making birdies on the 8th, 13th, 14th, and 17th holes.

Mimi Rhodes from England is in fourth place with a score of 11 under par after shooting four under 68. Meanwhile, Cheng-Hsuan Shih from Chinese Taipei, who led after the second round, dropped to fifth place with a score of three over 75, totaling 10 under par.

Pei-Ying Tsai, Phoebe Yao, Denmark’s Smilla Tarning Sonderby, Thailand’s Chonlada Chuenchom, and Juliana Hung are tied for sixth at nine under par.

With just one round remaining, Pranavi aims to regain her form and finish the week on a strong note, hoping to replicate her recent top-four finishes in consecutive tournaments.
