Bengaluru, April 21: A shocking incident has emerged from the outskirts of Bengaluru, Karnataka, where a woman allegedly murdered her boyfriend under the pretext of a “Western-style proposal.” The police have arrested the accused woman.
The incident took place in the Bidadi police station area on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Kiran, while the accused woman is named Prema. Both worked at the same company and had been in a relationship for some time.
According to police reports, the woman allegedly invited Kiran to her home, claiming she wanted to propose in a “foreign style.” After gaining his trust, she blindfolded him and tied his hands and feet with ropes. When Kiran questioned her actions, she explained that this was part of the “Western style” and urged him to remain calm.
Subsequently, the accused reportedly doused him in petrol and set him on fire, resulting in his death. Authorities have also learned that she recorded the entire incident on her mobile phone.
During initial questioning, the accused claimed she was in the bathroom and found Kiran ablaze upon her return. However, CCTV footage and preliminary investigations revealed that Kiran had not brought any petrol with him, raising suspicions that it was already in the house.
The police also noted that the accused sustained no injuries during the incident, further deepening their suspicions. Neighbors heard Kiran’s screams and alerted the police, but by the time they arrived, he had already succumbed to his injuries.
Immediately following the incident, Bidadi police arrived on the scene and took the woman into custody. Authorities are now investigating the motive behind the murder and the reasons for recording the video.
Preliminary investigations have also revealed that the victim was preparing to marry another woman and had been avoiding calls and messages from the accused.
The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation and awaiting an official statement.
