Ranchi, April 21: The crime rate in Jharkhand’s capital, Ranchi, is alarming. On Tuesday morning, criminals brazenly shot businessman Bhargav Singh near the OTC ground in the Pandara OP area. He sustained serious injuries after being shot in the abdomen. The incident caused a stir in the neighborhood, drawing a large crowd of locals.
In his initial statement at the hospital, Bhargav Singh accused a man named Vijay Tete of the attack. He revealed that there had been an ongoing dispute over a piece of land in Ratu, during which Vijay had threatened him over the phone. Vijay Tete is reportedly a resident of Gandhi Nagar in Kanke. Following the shooting, the assailants fled the scene.
Within an hour of the incident, police arrested Vijay Tete on charges of conspiracy to commit the attack, while the search for the shooters continues.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Sanjay Seth, the Minister of State for Defence and MP from Ranchi, rushed to the city hospital. Given Bhargav Singh’s critical condition, he was promptly referred to Paras Hospital. Under the MP’s directive, police established a ‘green corridor’ to expedite the transfer of the injured man to the hospital, where he is currently under expert care. Authorities recovered a shell casing from the crime scene and have cordoned off the entire area.
While inspecting the site, MP Sanjay Seth launched a scathing attack on the state’s law and order situation. He stated, “The morale of criminals in Ranchi has risen to such an extent that they can shoot openly and walk away. This situation reminds me of the lawlessness of the 1990s. The city’s security measures have completely collapsed.”
