Mumbai, May 22: Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde has called for the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to investigate the rise of the digital political satire group known as the ‘Cockroach People Party‘ (CPP). He emphasized that the inquiry should focus on whether there are attempts to incite unrest in the country, similar to events in Nepal and Bangladesh.
In an interview, Hegde questioned how the ‘Cockroach People Party’ amassed 15 million followers on Instagram. He raised concerns about potential chaos being orchestrated within India that warrants investigation.
He also mentioned that the NIA should look into the involvement of Rahul Gandhi, if any, in this matter. Additionally, the individual managing the CPP’s Instagram and X accounts will also be scrutinized.
Hegde referenced the youth-led uprisings in Bangladesh and Nepal, suggesting that an NIA investigation could reveal whether there are similar attempts to provoke unrest in India.
This viral satire movement gained attention following remarks made by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud during a court hearing on May 15.
Meanwhile, Hegde welcomed the application of the Maharashtra Organized Crime Control Act (MCOCA) against cow smugglers in the state. He stated, “The cow is our mother, and it is our duty to protect this animal. Our government has decided to take strict action against all those involved in cow smuggling.”
He added that checkpoints will be established at state borders, and the Border Security Force will be called upon to take action against offenders.
