New Delhi, February 19: BJP leader Shazia Ilmi has responded sharply to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s statements made during the AI Summit. She accused Gandhi of spreading fear and sensationalism without any factual basis or understanding. “To claim that data is being sold is an outrageous statement. He is directly undermining the country’s institutions, future, economy, and laws,” Ilmi stated.
Ilmi further criticized Gandhi for attempting to tarnish the AI Summit‘s reputation by referencing a private university, despite the presence of global leaders. “This platform is about investment and technology, yet he refers to it as a data marketplace. India is a global digital leader. Just look at UPI and Aadhaar. We have strict cyber protocols for data security. I fail to understand what Rahul Gandhi is saying,” she added.
Regarding comments made by TMC leaders about Gandhi, Ilmi remarked that he has become a laughingstock, with open questions about his leadership. She noted that names like Mamata Banerjee and MK Stalin are also being mentioned. “In Bengal, it has become Congress versus TMC, and in Tamil Nadu, the DMK will go its own way. The INDIA alliance was merely for self-interest. It collapsed after the Lok Sabha elections,” she asserted.
On the Maharashtra government’s decision to end the 5% reservation for Muslims, Ilmi stated that reservations based on religion are unconstitutional. “Reservations should be provided to economically weaker sections,” she emphasized.
Addressing the controversy surrounding “Kerala Story-2,” Ilmi expressed confusion. “If you disagree with the second part of Kerala Story and advocate for freedom of expression, how can you demand a ban on a film made under that very freedom?” she questioned.
Commenting on the BSP contesting the assembly elections alone in Uttar Pradesh, Ilmi remarked that Mayawati’s solo campaign reflects a deep mistrust within the opposition, showing a lack of courage to directly confront the BJP. “The elephant doesn’t want to join hands, and the bicycle is not needed. The future of the INDIA alliance is bleak,” she concluded.
