Second World Humanoid Robot Games Set to Take Place in Beijing

Beijing, April 22: The Second World Humanoid Robot Games will be held from August 22 to 26 at the National Speed Skating Stadium in Beijing. This event was announced during a press conference on Tuesday.

The games will be jointly hosted by the Beijing Municipal Government and China Media Group (CMG). This year, the duration of the event has been extended to five days.

Competitors will showcase robots that are ‘more autonomous’, ‘more agile’, and ‘more practical’. The 100-meter race will now be conducted entirely autonomously.

New events will include tasks such as folding clothes in a domestic setting, extinguishing fires in emergency scenarios, and preparing cooked meals in retail environments. Additionally, robots will autonomously perform long tasks in real-world settings like factories, hospitals, hotels, and homes.

The competitions will feature a total of 32 events divided into two categories: competitive and scenario-based. The competitive category will include athletics, football, gymnastics, weightlifting, martial arts, street dance, sports dance, tug-of-war, and pot throwing. The scenario category will focus on domestic, hotel, industrial, emergency, hospital, and supermarket environments.

CMG will play a significant role in this event. From May to August, a special activity called ‘Energy Transfer’ will be organized, where robots will complete specific tasks at various locations to gather energy, which will be showcased during the opening ceremony.

This initiative aims to test the robots’ environmental adaptability, autonomous operation, and practical service skills, promoting technological innovation and industrial advancement.
