The operation is being closely monitored by Deputy Inspectors General and Superintendents of Police to ensure effective coordination and swift action across various states.

According to officials, extensive searches have been conducted at over 100 locations in approximately 21 cities, including Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Nagaur, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Faridabad, Noida, Meerut, Prayagraj, and Mumbai. During the search operations, investigators have thoroughly examined the residences of the accused, properties belonging to their family members and associates, as well as farmhouses, flats, hotels, and other suspicious locations.

So far, around 50 individuals have been interrogated, including close relatives, friends, domestic staff, drivers, and others suspected of providing shelter to the accused. Additionally, four other individuals have been detained for extensive questioning on charges of aiding the accused. Investigative agencies are also focusing on technical aspects of the case.

CCTV footage and other digital evidence from properties in five major cities are being collected and analyzed to trace the movements and contacts of the absconding accused.

This entire case is linked to the alleged Water Scam, which has seen a recent acceleration in investigations. The Anti-Corruption Bureau, Enforcement Directorate, and Central Bureau of Investigation are jointly probing the matter.

The scam first came to light in June 2023, initiated by Rajasthan’s Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena. Approximately 20 individuals have been named in the case, including several serving and retired officials and engineers.

The ACB has conducted raids at around 15 locations in Delhi, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. During these operations, 10 accused have been arrested, including one individual captured in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.
