A tragic accident in Saudi Arabia on Monday claimed the lives of 42 Indian nationals travelling from Makkah to Madina. The passengers, mostly from Hyderabad, were on their way for Umrah when their bus collided with a diesel tanker, leading to a massive fire.

Local media reported that the crash occurred near Muharras, around 160 km from Madina, at approximately 1:30 am IST. Many passengers were asleep at the time, leaving them with no chance to escape after the fire engulfed the bus.
According to initial reports, the victims include 20 women and 11 children. Most of the deceased are believed to be Indian nationals from Hyderabad.
The Telangana government said it is in constant touch with the Indian Embassy in Riyadh. The state informed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed officials in Delhi to coordinate closely with the embassy to assist in identifying victims and completing necessary formalities. (Daily Kiran)

Following the incident, the Indian Consulate in Jeddah set up a 24×7 control room and released a helpline number: 8002440003.
The Telangana government has also created a control room at the state secretariat for families seeking information. The helpline numbers are 79979-59754 and 99129-19545.
Owaisi Expresses Grief, Seeks Centre’s Support
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi expressed deep sorrow over the accident. He told ANI that he has contacted two Hyderabad-based travel agencies and shared passenger details with the Indian Embassy in Riyadh.
Owaisi also spoke with Abu Maithan George, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy, who assured him that information is being collected from local authorities and updates will follow.
“I appeal to the Central Government, especially External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, to ensure the bodies are brought back to India and the injured receive proper medical treatment,” Owaisi said. (Daily Kiran)
