New Delhi, March 13: Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella expressed his admiration for Shantanu Narayen, who recently resigned from his position as CEO of Adobe. On the social media platform X, Nadella congratulated Narayen for his remarkable tenure, stating, “Congratulations, Shantanu, on a fantastic time at Adobe. You have built one of the most important software companies in the world, expanding possibilities for creators, entrepreneurs, and brands globally.”
Nadella further remarked, “I have always been impressed by the empathy evident in your creative process and the example you set as a leader. I am grateful for your friendship, guidance, and all you have done for Adobe and our industry.”
Adobe announced that Narayen, who has served as CEO for nearly two decades, will step down from his role after the appointment of a new successor. However, he will remain on the board as chairman to assist during the leadership transition.
The board has formed a special committee to oversee the selection process, considering both internal and external candidates. Frank Calderoni, Adobe’s lead independent director, stated, “On behalf of the board, I appreciate Shantanu’s contributions over the past 18 years as CEO and as a catalyst for change, preparing Adobe for success in the AI-driven era.”
Under Narayen’s leadership, Adobe shifted from selling packaged software to a subscription-based cloud platform, expanding its products in digital media, creative tools, and customer experience services. Key platforms like Photoshop, Acrobat, and Creative Cloud have become essential tools for creators, enterprises, and digital publishers worldwide.
Reflecting on his long tenure, Narayen noted, “We grew from 3,000 employees to 30,000. We provided technology that impacted billions of people through digital experiences created by our customers, resulting in our revenue increasing from $1 billion to nearly $25 billion.”
