Sanjay Nirupam Criticizes Congress for Double Standards Following Rahul Gandhis Court Relief
Sanjay Nirupam questions Congresss stance on judiciary pressure after Rahul Gandhis court relief, advocating for balanced development and environmental protection.

Mumbai, October 27 (Daily Kiran) : Sanjay Nirupam, spokesperson for Shiv Sena, has taken aim at the Congress party following the recent relief granted to Rahul Gandhi by the Sultanpur MP/MLA court in a defamation case. He urged Congress to refrain from accusing the judiciary of operating under political pressure.
In his remarks, Nirupam emphasized that Congress has consistently claimed that the BJP and NDA influence court decisions. With the court’s decision in favor of Gandhi, he argued that the party should abandon its narrative of judicial pressure.
Nirupam stated that court rulings are based on evidence and the specifics of each case. He pointed out that a strong case can lead to victory, while a weak case may result in defeat. He criticized Congress for its inconsistent approach, suggesting that labeling the judiciary as corrupt when losing a case, yet praising it when winning, is hypocritical. He called for a shift in Congress’s attitude toward the judiciary.
On a different note, Nirupam defended the proposed power plant near the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary, describing it as crucial for Maharashtra’s development and job creation. He acknowledged the global concern for environmental protection but stressed the importance of advancing development projects as well. He highlighted that the Maharashtra government has permitted the Toronto company to establish the power plant, which is expected to generate around 25,000 megawatts of electricity and create jobs for approximately eight to ten lakh people.
Nirupam asserted that the project has undergone an environmental assessment and will be located outside the sanctuary’s forest areas. He noted that while the project will require a significant amount of land, provisions are in place to plant two to three times the number of trees that may be cut down. He accused opponents of the project of hindering Maharashtra’s growth, electricity production, and job opportunities for the youth.
Regarding the investigation into an audio clip released by Manoj Jarange Patil, Nirupam welcomed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the Mumbai police. He noted that Shiv Sena had previously called for an investigation and that some party leaders had met with the Chief Minister to expedite the inquiry. The Chief Minister has ordered a forensic examination of the audio clip, and Nirupam stressed the need to question those involved to ascertain the truth behind the claims made in the recording.
