New Delhi, May 22: Cristiano Ronaldo propelled Al Nassr to victory in the 2025-26 Saudi Pro League, clinching the title on Thursday. The Portuguese superstar scored two goals, helping his team secure a 4-1 win against Dhamac. This marks Ronaldo’s first major title since joining Al Nassr in January 2023.
This victory represents Al Nassr’s 11th league title and their first since Ronaldo’s arrival. The club finished the season with a two-point lead over rivals Al Hilal. Last week, a mistake by Brazilian goalkeeper Bento in stoppage time cost Al Nassr the domestic championship, resulting in a 1-1 draw against Al Hilal. Additionally, Al Nassr faced defeat at home against Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League final.
However, under the guidance of coach Jorge Jesus, the team delivered an impressive performance against struggling Dhamac at King Saud University Stadium. Former Liverpool winger Sadio Mane also scored for Al Nassr, while ex-Atletico Madrid and Chelsea forward Joao Felix played alongside Ronaldo. Mane opened the scoring for Al Nassr in the first half, giving them a 1-0 lead.
After halftime, Kingsley Coman doubled Al Nassr’s advantage to 2-0. Ronaldo then showcased his skills, sealing the victory with two goals. He netted his first from a free kick in the 60th minute, followed by a brilliant strike in the 81st minute, leaving the goalkeeper stranded. These goals marked his 27th and 28th of the season. Dhamac managed to score only once, in the 58th minute, while Al Nassr’s defense remained solid throughout the match.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner received a standing ovation as he exited the field just three minutes before the final whistle, a truly emotional moment. Ronaldo has now won domestic league titles in Portugal, England, Spain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia. He is set to represent Portugal in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking his sixth appearance in the tournament.
