Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Buds 8 Pro true wireless earbuds in China, featuring an innovative coaxial triple-driver setup and dual DACs. Priced at 399 yuan (approximately $57), these earbuds aim to deliver high-quality audio at an affordable cost.
Each earbud is equipped with an 11mm titanium-coated dynamic driver to handle bass and midrange frequencies, along with two 6.7mm micro piezoelectric ceramic drivers dedicated to high frequencies. This configuration uses independent frequency crossover and separate dual DACs to enhance sound clarity and detail. The earbuds support Xiaomi’s MIHC audio codec and are compatible with LHDC-V5. They also hold Hi-Res Wireless Audio certification, highlighting their premium sound capabilities.
The Redmi Buds 8 Pro incorporate Xiaomi’s Deep Space Noise Cancellation 3.0 technology, offering noise reduction up to 55dB across a broad 5kHz range. The system continuously samples environmental noise and ear fit 32,000 times per second to adjust noise cancellation in real time. Users can access 20 different ANC levels, intelligent scene detection, personalized noise-cancellation profiles, and single-ear operation for added convenience.
For an immersive experience, the earbuds support spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, powered by a six-axis gyroscope. Xiaomi’s own spatial audio rendering engine is integrated alongside Dolby Audio support, although Dolby’s spatial audio mode does not include head tracking functionality.
Battery life is promising, with up to 8.5 hours of playback on a single charge and a total of 35 hours with the charging case. Fast charging enables 2 hours of playback with just 5 minutes of charging. However, wireless charging is not supported.
The earbuds feature swipe gestures on the stems for accurate volume control, complemented by haptic feedback. A redesigned light bar on the charging case displays battery status and charging progress with animated lighting effects.
Smart features include Xiaomi HyperOS Connect, Smart Find, audio handoff between devices, dual-device connection, notification voice broadcasts, hearing health monitoring, and an in-ear karaoke mode. Some of these functions require a Xiaomi phone or tablet running HyperOS 3 or later.
The Redmi Buds 8 Pro are offered in Mist Blue, Black, and White, with a matte finish designed for skin comfort.
In related developments, Redmi recently launched the Turbo 5 smartphone series featuring the Dimensity 8500 and Dimensity 9500s chipsets, including the Turbo 5 Max model with a large 9,000mAh battery.
