Real Madrid Faces Major Setback as Mbappé Misses El Clásico Against Barcelona

Barcelona, May 11: Spain’s prominent team, Real Madrid, will take on FC Barcelona in the upcoming El Clásico without their star forward, Kylian Mbappé. The French player has not fully recovered from a muscle injury in his left leg.

Mbappé’s absence is a significant blow for Madrid, as this match could potentially secure the La Liga title for Barcelona. Under coach Hansi Flick, Madrid will enter this clash at Camp Nou with an 11-point lead over their rivals, needing only a draw to defend their title with four matches remaining in the season.

Last season, Mbappé had an outstanding performance in the El Clásico, scoring three goals. However, despite his efforts, Real Madrid still faced defeat. Unfortunately, he was unable to complete the training session at Valdebebas on Saturday and subsequently failed a final fitness test on Sunday morning.

The club has decided not to risk exacerbating his injury, especially with Madrid’s hopes of winning the title nearly extinguished. In recent matches against Barcelona, Mbappé has proven to be a significant threat, averaging a goal every 67 minutes in El Clásico encounters.

On a positive note for Madrid, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is returning from injury and will be seen playing at Camp Nou. Amid growing turmoil within the club, Madrid will step onto the field. Reports earlier this week suggested that midfielder Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni were involved in a dressing room altercation following the team’s recent poor results.

It has been reported that Valverde suffered cranioencephalic trauma and required stitches, while both players faced heavy fines from the club. This incident has fueled speculation about rifts within the Madrid dressing room and has raised uncertainty regarding coach Álvaro Arbeloa’s future with the club.
