Uttar Pradesh Initiates KPI-Based Monitoring for Improved School Education

The Uttar Pradesh government launches a new plan to enhance school education quality through performance indicators and regular monitoring.

Lucknow, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : The government of Uttar Pradesh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has unveiled a strategic plan aimed at enhancing the quality and accountability of the state’s school education system. The initiative will span from November 2026 to January 2027 and emphasizes performance indicators (KPIs) to regularly monitor educational activities and ensure timely achievement of targets.

District and block officials have been instructed to implement the planned activities and upload progress reports to the relevant portal. All tasks are expected to be completed within the designated timeframe, with performance reviews taking place during monthly meetings. These meetings will reinforce the execution of plans, target fulfillment, and accountability.

To ensure quality education, district-level meetings will be held, and data from the Performance Indicator National Benchmarking and Monitoring Committee (NBMC) will be utilized for monthly reviews by the District Task Force (DTF). Weekly reviews will also be conducted by the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) in collaboration with Block Education Officers (BEOs), alongside monthly meetings with the BEO and Academic Resource Persons (ARPs).

Minutes from these meetings will be uploaded to the portal, and timely availability of expenditure details for the Samagra Shiksha and PM Poshan schemes will be ensured. Training for teachers will include block-level sessions, directive-based training, and the use of digital teaching materials in classrooms. The initiative aims to facilitate the effective use of digital resources available on the Diksha platform and promote project-based, activity-based, and catch-up learning.

Monitoring will also focus on achieving the Nipun targets, assessing students, and updating progress reports. The Nipun school assessments for students in grades 1 and 2 are scheduled to be conducted transparently and on time between December 21-30, 2026, and January 20-30, 2027. There is a strong emphasis on ensuring the achievement of students meeting Nipun targets and utilizing project-based teaching materials in schools.

Progress and quality checks will also be conducted for the construction of Chief Minister Model Composite Schools across 75 districts. In terms of girls’ education, officials are directed to complete the sanctioned KGBV construction projects and monitor student attendance and enrollment. A complete verification of allocated students under the Right to Education (RTE) will also be performed on the portal.

For pre-primary education, admission for children aged 3 to 6 in Bal Vatika, as well as monitoring of ECCE activities and coordination with Anganwadi centers, will be prioritized. Community engagement initiatives will include learning by doing, the School Chalo campaign, and activities related to surveying and enrolling out-of-school children. Special needs children will be identified under integrated education, ensuring the availability of supportive tools and resources, and necessary data will be updated on the U-DISE+ portal.

The Management Information System (MIS) will track new enrollments, district rankings, and progress related to ICT, smart classes, digital libraries, and UID-related tasks. Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh stated, “The Yogi government is committed to providing quality education and improving student learning outcomes in the state. Regular monitoring of educational activities through the established KPIs will ensure timely target achievement.”
