Rajasthan on High Alert After Bomb Threats to Baran and Bikaner Collectorates

Jaipur, May 6: Panic erupted in Rajasthan on Wednesday when bomb threats were emailed to the collectorates in Baran and Bikaner. Following the threats, immediate evacuation of the buildings was ordered, and security measures were heightened.

In Baran, officials reported receiving the threatening email early Wednesday morning, warning of a bomb explosion at the collectorate. The email contained bizarre instructions, including that anyone wearing a red saree or red shirt should not be allowed entry.

The message also mentioned the use of a human bomb and included misleading information. Upon receiving the alert, the collectorate was quickly evacuated, and police arrived on the scene. A bomb disposal squad and dog unit from Kota were summoned to conduct a thorough search of the area, with heavy police presence deployed nearby.

A similar threat was received by the Bikaner district collectorate, causing chaos there as well. People were swiftly evacuated, and an intensive investigation commenced. Additional Superintendent of Police Chakravarti Singh Rathore and several other officials arrived at the site.

Authorities confirmed that all staff and individuals were safely evacuated from both locations. Currently, no suspicious items have been found, but security agencies continue their investigation.

Reports indicate that this is the fourth bomb threat received by the Baran collectorate in recent days. Just two days prior, an email claimed that 16 cyanide-filled bombs had been planted in the collectorate and district court, but investigations yielded no findings.

Similar threats were reported on May 14 and December 19, 2025, prompting lengthy searches after the buildings were evacuated. Another threatening email was received on April 4, 2026.

Officials state that these recurring threats are being taken seriously, and efforts are underway to trace the sender of the emails.
