Jaipur, June 27: The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has received a three-month extension from the state government. The association will continue to operate under an ad-hoc committee for this period. This marks the tenth extension since the committee’s initial appointment in 2024.
The extension was approved by Dr. Samit Sharma, the Registrar of Cooperative Societies. He stated that the decision was made to avoid legal hurdles in the functioning of the state’s cricket body. The committee has been instructed to complete the election process within the next three months.
The current panel was formed on an ad-hoc basis for just three months after the previous RCA committee was dissolved in March 2024. Continuous delays in elections have led to the repeated extensions of the ad-hoc committee’s tenure.
According to a letter submitted to the government on June 24, the committee noted, “The investigation into the financial and administrative operations of the previous RCA committee is still ongoing. This is why elections have not been conducted. The committee also mentioned unresolved disputes involving several district cricket associations, stating that these issues must be resolved before conducting free and fair elections as per RCA regulations.”
The panel also informed the government that delays in holding elections were due to the ongoing domestic cricket season and other essential administrative reasons.
The government has retained the current committee, which is chaired by Mohit Yadav. Other members include Dhananjay Singh, Ashish Tiwari, Sushil Jain, Arisht Singhvi, and Arjun Beniwal. The composition of the committee has often drawn political attention, with several members hailing from prominent political families.
Mohit Yadav is the son of BJP legislator Jaswant Yadav. Dhananjay Singh is the son of Health Minister Gajendra Singh, while Ashish Tiwari is the son of BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari. Arisht Singhvi is the grandson of former minister Chandra Raj Singhvi, and Arjun Beniwal is the son of Bhadra legislator Sanjeev Beniwal.
It remains to be seen whether the current panel will oversee RCA elections by September 2026 or if Rajasthan cricket will continue under interim administration.
