Rahul Gandhi Protests Against Pellet Gun Use, BJP Responds with Criticism

New Delhi, August 21: Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi staged a protest at the Parliament Street police station in New Delhi on Friday, supporting victims of pellet gun injuries. The event turned dramatic as Gandhi demanded the filing of an FIR regarding the use of pellet guns, drawing sharp criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad addressed reporters, stating, “It is unfortunate that Rahul Gandhi is now engaging in chaotic politics instead of democratic politics. He is protesting without permission and prior notice at the police station. Previously, he has staged protests outside the Prime Minister’s residence, and now he has chosen this location.”

Prasad further explained that according to police sources, a complaint related to the incident Gandhi referenced had already been filed and is currently under investigation. He emphasized that the victims had approached the Supreme Court, which formed a high-powered committee led by a retired judge, including two other judges, a former CBI director, and a senior official. The committee will investigate whether the shooting occurred.

He criticized Gandhi for showing a lack of respect for the law, stating, “He goes to the police station to protest and begins to create chaos. He has been caught in the Congress party’s stance on ‘Vande Mataram,’ which faced significant backlash when they decided to sing only two stanzas under pressure from Muslim appeasement. The facts are clear; Rajendra Prasad declared on January 24, 1947, that ‘Vande Mataram’ would be the national song and ‘Jana Gana Mana’ the national anthem.”

Prasad concluded, “Rajendra Prasad did not say that ‘Vande Mataram’ would be sung in a truncated form. On August 15, 1947, when India gained independence, the great musician Omkarnath Thakur sang the entire song at the request of Sardar Patel. The Congress party is constantly getting entangled in these issues, and now they are resorting to chaos. We condemn this behavior. We want to make it clear that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the Congress party has become a party of chaos.”
