Political Turmoil Erupts Over Congresss Decision to Sing Only Two Verses of Vande Mataram

New Delhi, August 21: A political storm has reignited over Congress‘s decision to sing only two verses of ‘Vande Mataram.’ BJP leaders have launched sharp attacks against the party, claiming that Congress has not only fragmented the song but also contributed to the division of the nation.

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya accused Congress, stating, “The decision to sing only two verses of ‘Vande Mataram’ before independence led to the creation of Pakistan and Bangladesh. Congress is laying the groundwork for another division of the country, which is unforgivable. The people of this nation will never forgive Congress.”

Maurya further criticized Congress for disregarding laws enacted by the government through Parliament, labeling such actions as anti-national, especially from a party that claims to be the oldest in the country. He suggested that this behavior is merely a strategy to appease Muslims.

In Midnapore, West Bengal, BJP leader and minister Agnimitra Paul targeted Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, saying, “Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, who was present at the August 15 event, appeared embarrassed to sing ‘Vande Mataram.’ His mother, Sonia Gandhi, signaled to stop it.”

Former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also attacked Congress, asserting that those who are communalizing ‘Vande Mataram’ show neither respect for the country nor for nationalism. He stated that this is not a new trend.

Naqvi remarked, “Before independence, they were seen aligning with Jinnah. To please a communal figure like Jinnah, they fragmented ‘Vande Mataram.’ They justify their actions by claiming they will only accept the fragmented version, dismissing the complete ‘Vande Mataram’ as communal. No one’s faith is threatened by ‘Vande Mataram’; rather, it is the dishonest who feel threatened.”

In Nagpur, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya stated, “This is the same Congress that divided the nation and has now divided ‘Vande Mataram.’ They have removed half of it. Now that we are bringing back the national song, they cannot digest it.”
