Mumbai: BJP leader Tuhin Sinha launched a strong attack on Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, accusing him of trying to malign India’s manufacturing sector and the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
In an interview, Tuhin Sinha claimed that Rahul Gandhi has been repeatedly questioning India’s manufacturing capabilities and weakening them through his statements.
Sinha said that wherever Rahul Gandhi goes, he tries to create doubt and discredit the ‘Make in India’ campaign, particularly targeting the manufacturing sector. According to him, Rahul Gandhi has been consistently claiming that the manufacturing efforts under this initiative have completely failed.
Referring to a video released by Rahul Gandhi about six months ago, Sinha noted that the Congress leader had criticised Indian drone manufacturers and compared them unfavourably to Chinese companies, which was damaging to Indian industry.
He added that in the video, Rahul Gandhi claimed that Indian drones are no match for Chinese drones. Sinha further said that instead of visiting large companies, Rahul Gandhi deliberately chose to visit a small drone manufacturing unit near Delhi, stating, “I chose to visit a small drone manufacturing unit to understand the process rather than visiting big market players.”
Questioning Rahul Gandhi’s intentions, Tuhin Sinha asked why the Congress leader is trying to defame Indian drone manufacturers, the defence sector, and MSMEs. He speculated whether Rahul Gandhi wanted to promote foreign players and keep India dependent on other countries.
Sinha urged the opposition leader to introspect and focus on inspiring small businesses and manufacturers who play a vital role in building a self-reliant India, instead of making such critical remarks.
According to the BJP leader, under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, various high-quality drones are being manufactured in India. Highlighting the growth potential of this sector, he stated that the Indian drone industry is currently valued at around ₹1 billion and is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
