New Delhi, April 5: Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha has firmly rejected allegations made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The party accused him of failing to raise issues related to Punjab in Parliament. Chadha stated that these claims are entirely false and politically motivated.
In a detailed statement released on Sunday, Chadha asserted, “I completely reject these baseless and malicious allegations that I have not raised Punjab’s issues in Parliament. My entire record proves the opposite.” He emphasized that all his interventions are documented in official records, accessible to any citizen.
Addressing the pending funds for Punjab, Chadha mentioned that he explicitly raised this issue on July 31, 2024, and that it is available in the records of Parliament TV. He specifically highlighted the outstanding Rural Development Fund (RDF) and the financial injustices faced by the state.
Chadha also claimed to have consistently raised several critical issues in Parliament. These include the rapidly declining groundwater levels, farmers’ struggles, questions related to Minimum Support Price (MSP), rising agricultural costs, and the need for crop diversification. Additionally, he discussed topics such as the federal structure, industrial revival, job creation, infrastructure deficits, and border security.
He referenced his active involvement in matters of religious and cultural significance, mentioning his advocacy for the expansion of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor and improved pilgrimage facilities to Nankana Sahib. According to him, these are serious and documented interventions, not mere performative efforts.
Chadha stated, “My role as a Member of Parliament is not to create noise or display fake outrage. I have come to make an impact in Parliament, not to create a ruckus.” He labeled the allegations against him as part of a “well-orchestrated smear campaign,” asserting, “No attempt to defame me can silence my voice. Truth and facts will ultimately prevail.”
