Qatar Discusses Irans Alleged Attacks at Arab League Meeting

New Delhi, April 22: Qatar participated in a special ministerial meeting of the Arab League Council via video conference. The meeting focused on Iran’s alleged attacks on Arab nations and the responsibilities of Iran under international law.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry shared details on its official social media account, stating, “Qatar took part in the Arab League Council’s ministerial meeting concerning Iranian attacks on Arab countries. This meeting centered on Iran’s ‘illegal and reprehensible’ actions against Arab nations and the obligations of the Islamic Republic of Iran under international law.”

Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, represented Qatar at this special ministerial meeting.

In India, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement addressing the serious incident of gunfire on Indian vessels in the Hormuz Strait. The statement revealed that Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Fathali met with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to discuss the matter.

During this meeting, India expressed its concerns regarding the gunfire incident involving two Indian-flagged vessels, which were fired upon by gunboats of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

When asked about any new information from Iran regarding the Saturday incident during an inter-ministerial briefing on recent developments in West Asia, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “I can only tell you that we are in continuous contact with Iranian officials to ensure the safe passage of our vessels through the Hormuz Strait. Additionally, many Indian nationals are present in Iran, so we are also discussing their safety and well-being with Iranian authorities.”

Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that India remains in contact with Iranian officials regarding the safe evacuation of Indian citizens and vessels in Iran. India is closely monitoring the evolving situation in West Asia and continues dialogue with all countries in the region.
