Punjab Kings Triumph Over Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026 Showdown

Mumbai, April 16: In the 24th match of IPL 2026, Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by seven wickets at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. Following their fourth consecutive loss this season, MI captain Hardik Pandya acknowledged that PBKS outperformed them in all aspects of the game.

Hardik expressed his thoughts after the home defeat, stating, “Honestly, I don’t have much to say right now. We really need to rethink from the beginning and identify where we are falling short. Is it due to the players? Is it as a team? Is it due to planning? We will figure it out and see what we can do moving forward. I believe we should also give credit to Punjab Kings. The ball started to reverse swing. In the second innings, the dew came in, and conditions improved slightly, but they completely outplayed us.”

The MI captain hinted at the possibility of making tough decisions for upcoming matches. He noted, “Punjab Kings had better bowling, batting, and certainly better fielding than us. We need to consider whether we need to make some hard decisions or just keep going and hope to change our fortunes. These are tough questions we ultimately have to answer, and yes, we must take responsibility for it.”

Batting first on their home ground, Mumbai Indians scored 195 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. Quinton de Kock delivered an outstanding performance, scoring an unbeaten 112 runs off 60 balls. Naman Dheer contributed with 50 runs from 31 balls. On the bowling front, Arshdeep Singh from Punjab Kings took three wickets for just 22 runs.
