
Dhuri, July 1: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has launched a monthly financial scheme named ‘Chief Minister Maan-Dhiyaan Satkaar Scheme’ for nearly 4 million adult women, with a budget of ₹9,300 crores.
During the launch, the Chief Minister announced that three months’ worth of support funds would be directly transferred to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. Each woman over the age of 18 will receive ₹3,000, while women from Scheduled Castes will receive ₹4,500, helping them live with dignity and self-respect.
Payments began immediately during the inauguration ceremony, with beneficiaries receiving SMS confirmations on their mobile phones. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mann described the day as historic, stating that over 4 million women have already registered for this significant initiative.
He emphasized that the support fund scheme has commenced in July and will pave the way for women’s empowerment. He further stated that this ambitious plan is designed to be sustained permanently.
Providing details about the scheme, he mentioned that women beneficiaries over 18 will be notified via mobile notifications, with each woman receiving ₹1,000 and Scheduled Caste women receiving ₹1,500 in financial assistance. The funds will be transferred directly to their bank accounts, and women already receiving social security pensions will also be eligible for this scheme.
The Chief Minister noted that approximately 97% of women in Punjab are expected to benefit from this initiative, with the state government allocating ₹9,300 crores for it.
Highlighting the broader social significance of this initiative, the Chief Minister remarked that while this financial assistance may not make women wealthy, it will certainly provide them with dignity and self-respect. He stated that women deserve the utmost respect as they are the source of life itself. He added that the blessings of mothers and sisters help in facing every challenge in the world.
He stressed the need to strengthen women’s economic independence to improve household welfare, promote gender equality, and increase women’s participation in social and economic decision-making.
Reiterating his government’s commitment to this scheme, Chief Minister Mann assured every beneficiary that this initiative would never be discontinued, as it symbolizes the trust placed in the public.
He concluded by stating that women’s mobile phones would soon buzz with notifications, ushering in a new era of prosperity where women can live with dignity and pride. This reflects the government’s respect for women, and the state government will spare no effort in advancing this noble cause.
