Protests in Delhi Disrupt Business Operations as Orders Go Unfulfilled
Ongoing protests in Delhi are impacting businesses across India, causing delays in order fulfillment during the festive season.

New Delhi, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : Protests in New Delhi are increasingly challenging traders as the festive season approaches, causing significant disruptions from Delhi to Bengaluru. Business operations have been severely affected, leading to difficulties in fulfilling orders due to ongoing strikes.
Prakash Pirgal, president of the Bengaluru Wholesale Cloth Merchants Association, stated that the protests in Delhi have repercussions for businesses in Bengaluru as well. Although their operations are based in Bengaluru, they supply fabrics to Delhi. Traders there have requested a halt in shipments due to the unrest, likening the situation to a complete shutdown of the city. This uncertainty raises concerns about whether business will return to normal during the upcoming Dussehra and Diwali celebrations.
Pirgal emphasized that the protests have hindered their ability to complete previously received orders. If his business is facing such challenges, it is likely that thousands of other traders are experiencing similar issues.
In response, merchant organizations have sent a letter to the Chief Justice of India, urging for immediate legal protection for self-employed traders affected by disruptive protests on the roads.
He pointed out that Bengaluru has designated areas for protests, such as Freedom Park. However, various groups frequently hold demonstrations, sometimes up to 15 to 20 days a month. Such protests in the city’s center lead to traffic congestion, causing widespread inconvenience. Commuters struggle to reach their offices on time, and even those heading to court face delays. Pirgal has called for protests to be moved away from the city center, suggesting that individuals could address their issues through dialogue in offices or designated protest areas.
