Protests Erupt in Jaipur Over NEET Paper Leak, Clashes with Police

Jaipur, May 21: Protests erupted in Jaipur on Thursday as Congress workers clashed with police while marching towards the BJP headquarters over the NEET paper leak issue.

The demonstration was led by Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra. He, along with party workers and senior leaders, demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing alleged irregularities in the NEET examination process.

Police resorted to using water cannons against the protesters. Dotasra was carried on the shoulders of supporters as former minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas sat on the road in front of the police commissionerate to express his dissent. Meanwhile, former MLA Ved Prakash Solanki was pushed back by police during the scuffle.

Legislator Manish Yadav attempted to climb over police barricades to advance with the protesters but was stopped and brought down by law enforcement.

The Congress march began from the party’s state headquarters, moving towards the BJP office via the ‘Shaheed Smarak.’ A significant number of party workers, including women and youth, participated in the protest, with some young demonstrators even dressing as NEET candidates.

Addressing the crowd, Dotasra criticized the central government and the National Testing Agency (NTA). He claimed that NEET papers have been leaking for the past three years, leading to a loss of trust in the NTA. He called for the agency’s dissolution and demanded strict action against those responsible for “ruining the future of 22 lakh students.”

Dotasra also urged for a court-monitored investigation into the matter and accused the Union Education Minister of failing to fulfill his responsibilities, reiterating his call for Pradhan’s resignation.
