Priyanka Gandhi Criticizes Government Over Pakistan Mediation Opportunity

New Delhi, March 25: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi addressed journalists regarding Pakistan’s opportunity for mediation to ease tensions in West Asia. She remarked, “We used to claim that we are a global leader and peacekeeper, whether it’s the war in Ukraine or the current situation.”

On the Transgender (Amendment) Bill, Priyanka expressed her disappointment that it was not sent to a permanent committee. She stated, “It is unfortunate that this bill is not being consulted properly. The community feels that this legislation will harm their identity, making it crucial for discussions to take place. This bill should have been passed only after appropriate consultations. It is unjust that such a significant decision is made without the community’s input. I wish the government would listen to us and send it to the permanent committee.”

Regarding Prime Minister Modi’s statements on the West Asia conflict, Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora thanked the Prime Minister for reassuring the nation, especially the common people, that there is no need to panic about the situation in West Asia. He emphasized that the government is taking good care of energy supplies and those working in the region. The Shiv Sena fully supports the central government.

On the Women’s Reservation Bill, Deora welcomed the initiative, stating, “We all share the same goal: to implement women’s reservation in the country as soon as possible. If we can establish this reservation nationwide by 2029, it would be a significant achievement for women.”

BJP MP Jagdambika Pal commented on the ongoing crisis in West Asia, noting that despite assurances from various ministers, the Prime Minister stated that the situation affects the world but not India. He pointed out, “There are no lines at petrol pumps, and there is no shortage of petrol or diesel. Some are talking about hoarding, but that has also ceased. If they plan to call an all-party meeting, they should acknowledge that India is united at this time, but they are playing politics.”
