New Delhi, March 23: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi has responded to the Jammu University committee’s recommendation to remove Muhammad Ali Jinnah from the curriculum. In an interview with a news agency on Monday, she emphasized that if history includes heroes, it must also acknowledge villains. Understanding both is crucial for society.
Chaturvedi pointed out that Jinnah is often blamed for the partition of India. She stated that he was the first to raise the issue of partition after the country gained independence, advocating for the creation of East and West Pakistan.
She argued that if Jinnah is removed from educational materials, future generations will lack knowledge about his role in the formation of Pakistan. Questions about how the borders were drawn and the current state of relations with Pakistan would remain unanswered.
Moreover, she expressed concern that without studying Jinnah, future generations may not understand the reasons behind conflicts with Pakistan.
Chaturvedi stressed the importance of learning about both heroes and villains. For instance, if we study Lord Rama, it is equally important to learn about Ravana.
