Prime Minister Modi Urges Service to the Motherland Through Ancient Wisdom

New Delhi, August 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a profound message on the social media platform X on Thursday, as he does daily. He appealed to the public to serve the motherland through a Sanskrit verse.

In his post, the Prime Minister wrote, “विश्वस्वं मातरमोषधीनां ध्रुवां भूमिं पृथिवीं धर्मणा धृताम्. शिवां स्योनामनु चरेम विश्वहा॥” The translation of this verse in Hindi is, “May the Earth, our Mother, be vast and stable, producing all kinds of superior plants and medicines. Let us always serve the motherland, which is nurtured by virtues such as knowledge, valor, truth, and affection, and which provides welfare and resources.”

Earlier on Wednesday, he had shared another message on X, stating, “Spiritual development instills a sense of service, dedication, and nation-building within individuals. Inspired by this, our youth is advancing the country in every field.”

He also included a verse that reads, “आत्मोदयः परज्यानिर्द्वयं नीतिरितीयती. तदूरीकृत्य कृतिभिर्वाचस्पत्यं प्रतायते.” The Hindi meaning is, “Self-elevation and continuous progress is the true policy of life. Based on this goal, knowledgeable and wise individuals expand their knowledge, skills, and influence to contribute positively to society.”

On Tuesday, the Prime Minister had emphasized, “Our talent shines through continuous effort and practice. Today, our youth embody these qualities and are making the nation proud globally.” He also shared a Sanskrit verse, “न हि ज्ञानेन सदृशं पवित्रमिह विद्यते. तत्स्वयं योगसंसिद्ध: कालेनात्मनि विन्दति॥”

The Hindi translation of this verse states that nothing in this world is as purifying as knowledge. A practitioner whose inner self is thoroughly cleansed through karma yoga or practice experiences that supreme knowledge within their soul at the right moment.
