BJP Accuses Congress of Undermining Democracy in Karnataka Protests

BJP leaders in Kolar accuse Congress of destabilizing democracy during a protest march, asserting their commitment to national stability.

Kolar, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a protest march in Kolar on Tuesday, rallying under the slogan “Save Democracy, Eliminate Chaos.” Party leaders accused Congress and its members of undermining democratic institutions and inciting unrest across the nation.

During the march, BJP’s state president B.Y. Vijayendra claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the party itself are unable to tolerate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity. He emphasized the need to raise awareness among the public about these anti-national forces.

Vijayendra highlighted that the NDA government, led by Modi, has returned to power for the third consecutive term. However, he alleged that Congress and Gandhi are attempting to create chaos throughout the country. He accused the party of trying to destabilize the central government and incite unrest through protests in Delhi, noting similar patterns of unrest seen in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and France.

He pointed out that while several Special Intensive Review (SIR) exercises have been conducted in the country, Congress lacks faith in the SIR process and electronic voting machines (EVMs). He also alleged that the party does not trust the Supreme Court.

Vijayendra announced that the protest march would continue in Chitradurga on Wednesday.

Former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, a member of the BJP parliamentary board, echoed these sentiments, accusing Congress of plotting to weaken the democratic framework. He stated that the BJP has launched this campaign to counter what they perceive as Congress’s conspiracy. Yediyurappa expressed confidence that the BJP and Janata Dal (Secular) would form a joint NDA government in Karnataka after the next assembly elections.

He criticized the Congress government for rampant corruption during its tenure, claiming that development initiatives have stalled. He also condemned the repeated hikes in prices of milk and other essential goods, noting the increasing difficulties faced by the public.

Opposition leader R. Ashok also criticized Congress, asserting that the government has failed to provide development opportunities despite losing elections in various regions. He accused Congress of protesting against EVMs and SIRs.

Speaking to reporters during the BJP’s “Save Democracy” campaign, Ashok alleged that Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party, and what he referred to as the “Cockroach Party” have colluded to create political instability in the country. He warned that Congress’s attempts to seize power by undermining democratic institutions would yield no results.

Ashok remarked that Congress has a habit of questioning EVMs when they lose elections while remaining silent when they win. He noted that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was the one who introduced the voting machine system. He claimed that if elections were held immediately in Karnataka, Congress would face a significant defeat.
