Pappu Yadav Defends Rahul Gandhi Amid Criticism of Government Policies

Pappu Yadav supports Rahul Gandhis fight for democracy, criticizing the governments handling of economic issues and democratic institutions.

New Delhi, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : Independent MP Pappu Yadav has voiced strong support for Rahul Gandhi in response to recent comments made by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad. Speaking in New Delhi, Yadav criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attacks on the opposition during National Unity Day and questioned a World Bank report claiming a reduction in poverty in India. He accused the central government of undermining democratic institutions, the constitution, and the rights of ordinary citizens.

Yadav pointed out that while BJP leaders claim to engage in debate, they fail to clarify the issues they wish to discuss. He labeled the current government as having a dictatorial tendency and expressed serious concerns regarding the impartiality of democratic institutions and the Election Commission. He noted that the opposition often lacks adequate opportunities to voice concerns in Parliament and faces suppression when protesting outside.

Over the past twelve years, Yadav stated, Rahul Gandhi has consistently raised issues concerning the constitution, the situation in Manipur, and the rights of women, farmers, and students. He highlighted Gandhi’s travels from Manipur to Goa, emphasizing his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by various communities, including school closures and economic pressures on the middle class.

Yadav criticized the government’s response to allegations of vote theft, asserting that many dismissed Gandhi’s concerns at the time. However, he believes the opposition is now uniting around this issue. He challenged the BJP to accept an electoral challenge if they are confident in their public support, reiterating demands for elections to be conducted via ballot paper and raising questions about the electoral process.

In response to Modi’s assertion that the opposition seeks to hinder national progress, Yadav insisted that the government should first address the state of the economy and the plight of ordinary citizens. He cited the closure of numerous schools and rising unemployment as significant issues. Furthermore, he pointed out the soaring prices of gas, petrol, and diesel, which have exacerbated the struggles of the middle class.

Yadav highlighted the increasing tax and EMI burdens on the middle class and demanded clarity from the government on job creation over the past twelve years. He accused the government of diverting attention from economic issues by igniting controversies around topics such as Hindu-Muslim relations and reservations.

Questioning the World Bank’s poverty reduction claims, Yadav argued that the rising inflation and economic hardships faced by the public contradict the reported statistics. He pointed out that if poverty has indeed decreased, there should be no need to provide free grain to millions. He urged the government to clarify its employment promises and the actual achievements in job creation.

Yadav concluded by asserting that the opposition is uniting to protect democracy and the constitution, warning that power is becoming concentrated in the hands of a few, which threatens the democratic framework. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the impartiality of constitutional institutions and acknowledged the growing participation of citizens from Bihar and elsewhere in this struggle for rights.
