Hubli, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : Central Minister Prahlad Joshi recently criticized Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party regarding their claims about meeting the Election Commission. Speaking to the media in Hubli, Joshi addressed Gandhi’s assertion that he had the support of 300 MPs who were allegedly denied a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner. “If you truly have 300 MPs, why not form a government?” Joshi questioned.
Joshi labeled Gandhi’s comments as foolishness, stating that if anyone wishes to meet the Chief Election Commissioner, they must follow the proper procedure. “There is a system in place. You need to schedule an appointment first,” he emphasized.
The minister recounted that when his own party sought a meeting with the Election Commission, they adhered to the established protocol, sending a request two days in advance. “The Election Commission’s office then contacted us to confirm a mutually agreeable time,” he added, underscoring the importance of following the rules.
Joshi pointed out that the Election Commission is a constitutional body, and entering its office without permission is inappropriate. He questioned whether Congress members believed they could simply walk into any office uninvited. “What kind of behavior is that?” he remarked.
He further criticized Congress for not requesting an appointment before attempting to meet the Commission, asserting that their actions were contradictory. “If you want to meet them, get an appointment. If you have 300 MPs, form a government,” he reiterated.
Regarding the alleged unauthorized entry into the All India Radio building, Joshi questioned how Congress members managed to gain access and why there was no accountability for their actions. He deemed their conduct irresponsible and foolish.
On the topic of Form-6, Joshi stated that the Election Commission had already clarified any confusion, noting that no changes were made to the form, only an additional declaration was added. He concluded by questioning whether Congress truly understood these procedures or was deliberately ignoring them.
