Political Turmoil Erupts in Punjab Following Murder of Anti-Drug Activist

Punjabs political landscape shifts as Congress leaders criticize the government following the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota.

Mansa, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : The murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota has sparked a political uproar in Mansa, Punjab. Congress leaders are voicing serious concerns regarding law and order under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann‘s administration.

Sachin Pilot, in charge of Punjab Congress, spoke to reporters, highlighting the alarming trend of violence. “We are witnessing incidents where individuals are shot in broad daylight. Anyone who speaks out against drugs or exposes government failures becomes a target and risks losing their life. This is a clear failure of law and order,” he stated. Pilot emphasized that if the government cannot ensure the safety of its citizens amid rising gun violence, the Chief Minister has no moral right to remain in power.

Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla echoed these sentiments, stating, “Punjab is currently in a dark phase. A significant crime wave is impacting citizens, who are being openly attacked. We just paid tribute to Parvinder Jhota, who was murdered. People are raising their voices in anger to draw attention to the government’s inaction, yet it seems to aid criminals instead. This is why citizens feel compelled to take the law into their own hands. The government and the Home Minister must act to prevent such situations.”

Earlier, on October 13, Jhota’s mother emotionally recounted her son’s fears, saying he had warned her, “Mom, they will kill me.” She recalled his last words before leaving, urging her to have his meal ready. “The Bhagwant Mann government has destroyed everything,” she lamented.
