Political Tensions Rise in Bihar Over Security of Lalu-Rabri Family

Patna, June 6: The political landscape in Bihar has become heated over the removal of Z-plus security for Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, and Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav. Tej Pratap Yadav, the national president of the Jan Shakti Party, has denied claims that the security was voluntarily returned.

Amid reports of reduced security, political activities have intensified at Rabri Devi’s official residence. Tej Pratap Yadav, the eldest son of Lalu and Rabri, visited his mother at her home, where a large number of RJD workers were present.

Speaking to the media, Tej Pratap refuted the claims about the security being returned, stating that neither his mother nor any family member had made such a decision. He alleged that security personnel were being pressured and repeatedly informed that their security command had been terminated.

Tej Pratap clarified that his mother only mentioned that if the command was indeed over, the security personnel could leave their posts. He emphasized that no decision to remove security was made by the family.

He also mentioned that he visited his mother to check on her health, as Rabri Devi has been unwell. During his visit, he raised concerns about women’s safety in the state. He insisted that the highest level of security should be provided to the daughters-in-law of Bihar and urged the state government to prioritize women’s safety. He criticized the Bihar government for neglecting issues related to law and order and public safety.

Former minister Tej Pratap accused government-aligned media of spreading rumors that the Lalu family had returned their security, while the truth was quite different. He reiterated that conversations with his mother made it clear that the family had not taken any steps to return their security. Security personnel had shown documents indicating that their security command had been terminated.

Amid this controversy, opposition parties have also voiced their support for the Lalu family. IP Gupta, co-national president of the Indian Justice Party (IJP) and a legislator, stated that the RJD plays a crucial role in the Grand Alliance. He asserted that when a major leader of the alliance faces political or administrative pressure, it is the responsibility of the allied parties to provide moral support.

He accused the BJP of diverting public attention from real and pressing issues in Bihar by focusing on matters related to the Lalu family.

Gupta also raised questions about the economic situation of the Bihar government, stating that the pace of development projects has slowed, and several serious issues remain unaddressed. He claimed that political disputes involving Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Tejashwi Yadav are being created to distract from scandals like the tender scam.
