Bhubaneswar: Policy Commission Vice Chair Suman Kumar Behera held a key meeting with senior officials of the Odisha Government at Lok Seva Bhavan on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Dev Ranjan Kumar Singh, and secretaries from various departments.
The discussion focused on Odisha’s overall economic development, industrial progress, investment promotion, ease of doing business, infrastructure development, energy, urbanisation, science and technology, education, tribal welfare, and social sectors. The state’s progress in these areas was reviewed, and future strategies were deliberated in detail.
A special emphasis was placed on the implementation of the ‘Developed Odisha 2036’ and ‘Developed India 2047’ visions. The state government presented its plans, reforms, and challenges related to achieving these ambitious goals. Vice Chair Behera appreciated Odisha’s consistent progress across multiple sectors and described the state’s reform-oriented policies and development initiatives as impactful. He assured full support and cooperation from the Policy Commission to help Odisha meet its development targets within the set timeframe.
This meeting marks another effort to strengthen coordination between the Odisha and central governments. In recent months, senior Policy Commission officials have increased their visits to Odisha, including meetings with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. These discussions requested support for projects such as establishing Bhubaneswar as a benchmark city, initiatives like BCPPER, urban transformation, economic zone development, and other key programs.
Odisha’s 2036 vision aims to build a developed, inclusive, and self-reliant economy emphasising rural-urban balance, upliftment of tribal areas, green energy, digital governance, and higher education. Cooperation with the Policy Commission will assist the state in securing better resources, policy expertise, and funding at the national level. The meeting also lauded Odisha’s good governance, transparency, and investor-friendly environment.
